Basha Öberg Art and Design Logo Black png

Basha Öberg is a Swedish-Russian composer and interdisciplinary artist whose work reimagines what sheet music can be. Moving beyond traditional notation, she creates performative scores in forms such as board games and 3D-printed puzzles.

Her practice is rooted in a craft-based approach, combining graphic design, composition, and 3D modeling to shape musical experiences. Through this, she brings together theatrical elements and combinatorial systems, expanding how music can be interpreted and performed.

Raised in a musical and artistic environment, Öberg was introduced early to performance through her mother, an opera singer. She began playing piano at the age of five and was performing publicly by ten. Alongside music, she developed a strong visual practice, drawing, designing, and eventually creating her own graphic representations of music before learning traditional notation.

During her studies at Luleå University of Technology, she became deeply engaged with contemporary music and began developing the fusion between visual design and composition that defines her work today.
